It wouldn’t be a weekend in Numidia without some rain. This weekend we were able to get the Friday Night program complete, rain came in early Saturday morning to put us a couple hours behind but were able to finish at a reasonable time even with a couple big cleanups, Sunday’s forecast got better throughout the weekend but the rain came in after 1st rd of jrs.
As always the Jr. Dragsters were first onto the track. Quarterfinalists included: Gavin Shoemaker, Liberti Ferster, Lorelie Hoover, Jaiman Dietz, Robert Keller and Robert Croce. First pair up was Shoemaker and Ferster, Shoemaker had the reaction time advantage .023 to .075 and held on for the double breakout win. Next up was Hoover and Dietz, neither drive hit the tree but Hoover had the better reaction time and took the win running 7.927 on her 7.90 dial. Final pair of the round was Croce and Keller, Croce had a big reaction time advantage but broke out with a 8.677 on his 8.70 dial sending Keller to the semis. Hoover received the bye run to the final and left Shoemaker and Keller to run for their spot in the final. Shoemaker left with an .018 to Keller’s .090, and took the win driving the strip running a 8.982 on his 8.94 dial. In the final, Shoemaker left with the reaction advantage again .023 to Hoover’s .051, both drivers ran .01 above their dial with Shoemaker taking the win 8.970 on his 8.96 dial.
With his 2nd win of the season, Shoemaker moved into 2nd place in points just behind Melissa Wilson. Ryan Wruble, Timmy Danley and Liberti Ferster round out the top 5.
Sam Koonsman took the win in Motorcycle over Zack Little.
Today was the 1st Bob Mackey Memorial race of the season, which means the winner of street pockets $1,000 for the regular entry fee. With 8 left in the quarter final round Ashley Held in his Camaro took on Joe Clark in the Nova. Both drivers feel asleep at the tree but only .003 separated their reaction times. Held, held on for the win in what was actually a very close race running 11.833 on his 11.83 dial as Clark broke out by just .004. Next up was a battle of old age and youth with Gabe Earnest taking on Tom Correll. Old age Correll hit the tree .009 to Earnest’s .025, but Earnest picked up the win in the double breakout. Next, a couple of former Jr. dragster racers squared off with Dj Clark and Kevin Kohr. Kohr was the 2016 Jr. Dragster Champ and showed why on this run as he left .002 running a 12.194 on his 12.17 dial to leave current Street points leader Clark no room with his .027 reaction. In another race of former Jr. racers, Kaitlyn Krause got the win over Emily Sabo in a double red light race. Sabo’s -.011 to Krause’s -.007. In the semis, Kohr took out Held with a .047 12.17 on 12.15 dial to advance to the final. Held missed the tree again and again ran right on his dial 11.822 on an 11.82 but wasn’t good enough this time. That left Earnest and Krause, both former Jr. Dragster competitors. Both drivers dialed 11.82, Earnest got the advantage on the tree .010 to .064 and held on for the win running 11.864 as Krause brokeout 11.805. Once again a pair of Jr. Dragster graduates square off in the final for the $1000 Bob Mackey series check. Earnest had the reaction advantage .028 to Kohrs .061 and got the win light running 11.878 on his 11.81 dial as Kohr broke out 12.122 on his 12.17 dial.
In the Pro quarterfinals, Mark Dennebaum took on Roy Hall. Only .002 separates them in reaction time, Dennebaum had the advantage .013 to .015 and held on to take the win in a double breakout running 9.009 on a 9.01 dial. Next up was Ryan Geyer and John Binkle. Geyer left with the advantage .025 to Binkle’s .045 and ran a 10.673 on 10.67 to get the win. Last up was Dave Novinger and Mike Mackey. Novinger was .043 and ran dead on with a 0, 9.710 to take the win over Mackey. Dennebaum earned the bye to the final and Geyer took on Novinger. Once again only .002 separated them with Novinger getting the advantage.014 to .016 but couldn’t run the number with a 9.701 on his 9.66 dial. Geyer picked up the win running 10.668 on his 10.65 dial. In the final Geyer missed the tree .052 to Dennebaum’s .029. Dennebaum picked up another win running 8.999 on his 8.98 dial.
With the win Mark Dennebaum extended his points lead to nearly 100 points over 2nd place Harry Bartman. Scott Tupper, Ryan Geyer and John Reklaitis round out the Top 5 in Pro.
With 5 left in Super Pro, 4 dragsters and 1 door car made of the quarter finals. First pair out was CJ Drake in a dragster and Red Daniels driving Mikey Bagel’s S & W dragster. Drake with the reaction advantage .014 to Red’s .019, and got the win with a 7.635 on 7.62 as Red broke out by just .001. Next up was Mark Price in his dragster taking on Sal Biondo in his first appearance at Numidia this season driving the DiMino ’68 Camaro. Price had the the reation advantage .011 to .021 and got the win running 7.430 on his 7.43 dial. Biondo ran 10.029 on his 10.02 dial. Brian Vollman took the bye by virtue of his .001 light the previous round. In the semis, Mark Price took the bye to the final and CJ Drake took out Vollman, CJ left .002 to Vollman’s .041 and ran 7.658 on his 7.62 to move into the final against Price. In the final, Price left .018 to Drake .028 and got the win with a 7.449 on 7.43 dial. Drake broke out by .006 running 7.624 on his 7.63 dial.
The win bumped Price into the Top 5 in points. Jack Ostrowski still in the lead thanks to his ho start followed by Jeff Krushinskie, Mark Price, Brad Givler and Vinny DiMino.
